Al Krause and Ruth Higgins have published a small but thoughtful book: "Lessons from the Obama 2012 Grassroots Campaign". The softcover is available at Village Books. Their political website: www.prudent-ventures.com has additional information and a well mannered, thoughtful blog on Whatcom County politics. Their book reveals tension between OFA's top down organizational hierarchy and local Whatcom County politics. I found the discussions of such provocative.
Michelle Alexander will speak on Thursday January 17th at WWU PAC at 7:00 PM. Ms. Alexander will speak on or about Race, Immigration, Poverty and Prisons : http://www.acadweb.wwu.edu/eesp/tangledwebs/index.shtml . Her book is available at Village Books as well. I will remind the reader that academic background on the current prison system could be informative for Whatcom County residents given or proposed new jail.
